This is a hands-on, detail-critical QC position responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy, and integrity of all incoming product before it enters our distribution channels.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced Product Inspection & Verification
- Conduct in-depth quality inspections of incoming product samples from each shipment using structured DG QC procedures.
- Verify accuracy in DGMS (Designer Greetings Management System), including:
- Correct imagery
- Accurate UPC codes
- Proper item numbers
- Packaging integrity
- Attribute alignment
- Review POs and manifests to validate accuracy of production and receipts.
- Interpret process sheets and compare production specs against delivered product.
Issue Identification, Investigation & Escalation
- Independently identify printing errors, specification mismatches, color inconsistencies, material defects, and supplier-quality deviations.
- Determine whether issues stem from:
- Art-file discrepancies
- Manufacturing defects
- Packaging failures
- Perform extended QC reviews by pulling cases from inventory when patterns emerge.
- Escalate issues with documented evidence to QC leadership and provide professional recommendations.
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Partner with Art, Warehouse, Operations, and QC leadership to resolve product discrepancies quickly and accurately.
- Provide clear communication regarding:
- Hold decisions
- Rework requirements
- Pull-backs
- Disposal/compactor actions
- Replacements needed for sample rooms
Documentation & Quality Reporting
- Enter detailed QC notes into DGMS, including:
- PO numbers
- Manifest IDs
- Description of defects
- Corrective actions taken
- Additional recommendations
- Maintain high-quality records to support traceability, audits, and continuous improvement.
Advanced Product Testing
Conduct structured testing (30-day tests where applicable) to evaluate:
- Hang-tab strength (gift bags, roll wrap)
- Polybag durability and seal integrity
- Envelope warping, bending, and insert fit
- Signage resilience, color fidelity, and curling
Provide written reports and findings to QC leadership.
Final QC Disposition & Stock Movement
- Approve or reject product based on DG standards.
- Label, palletize, and prepare product for return to stock.
- Complete Back-to-Stock transfers accurately and notify Warehouse leadership.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years hands-on Quality Control experience in manufacturing, print production, consumer goods, or packaging.
- Strong understanding of QC principles, visual inspection standards, and defect classification.
- Ability to work with multiple departments and communicate QC findings clearly.
- Strong computer skills; able to learn DGMS and follow digital workflows.
- Ability to make informed recommendations based on inspection results.
- Exceptional attention to detail — must consistently notice small defects or irregularities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy boxes and move product during inspections.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and maneuver within a warehouse for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume operations environment.
Work Environment
- On-site, warehouse-based QC role in Edison, NJ.
- Daily collaboration with Warehouse, Art, QC Leadership, and Operations.
